Annapolis is a city that was nearly wiped out by the Great Tri-State Tornado in 1925 located in Iron County, Missouri, United States. The population was 310 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 310 people, 136 households, and 84 families residing in the city. The population density was 815.5 people per square mile (315.0/km²). There were 161 housing units at an average density of 423.5 per square mile (163.6/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.35% White, 0.32% Native American, and 0.32% from two or more races.

There were 136 households out of which 29.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.4% were married couples living together, 16.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.2% were non-families. 38.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 2.79.

In the city the population was spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 16.8% from 45 to 64, and 24.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 75.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 71.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $16,389, and the median income for a family was $24,464. Males had a median income of $20,417 versus $18,125 for females. The per capita income for the city was $10,015. About 15.2% of families and 22.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 9.8% of those under age 18 and 27.0% of those age 65 or over.
